What It Does
Renting telehandlers in Utah
A telehandler is a forklift with a telescoping boom, which changes what a forklift can do. Instead of only lifting straight up, it reaches out and up — placing a pallet of block on the third floor from ground level, or setting trusses well inside a building footprint without ever driving in there. On rough terrain and mid-rise work it does jobs no standard forklift can.
Choosing a size
- Compact telehandlers
- Lower reach and capacity in a smaller frame, for residential builds and sites where a full-size machine will not manoeuvre.
- Mid-range telehandlers
- The most common class on commercial jobs — enough height for several storeys and enough capacity for loaded pallets of material.
- High-capacity telehandlers
- Maximum reach and lift for tall structures and heavy placement. Note that lifting capacity falls as the boom extends, so the rating at full reach is the number that matters.

- What is the difference between a telehandler and a forklift?
- A standard forklift lifts vertically on a mast. A telehandler has a telescoping boom, so it reaches forward and upward — meaning it can place a load somewhere the machine itself cannot drive. It is also built for rough ground, where a warehouse forklift is not.
- How much can a telehandler lift?
- Two numbers matter, not one: maximum capacity, and capacity at full reach. They are very different. Every machine has a load chart, and the height and distance you need to place at determines what it can safely carry.
- Can I put a work platform on it?
- Many telehandlers accept an approved platform attachment, which turns the machine into a work platform. The attachment must be rated for that specific machine — confirm the combination when you book.
