What It Does
Renting skid steers in Utah
The skid steer is the most versatile machine on most jobsites, largely because of what you can hang off the front of it. The loader itself is the delivery system; the attachment does the job. That is why one machine can grade in the morning, move pallets at lunch, and clear brush in the afternoon.
Choosing a size
- Wheeled skid steers
- Faster on hard surfaces, easier on finished pavement, and generally lower cost. The skid-turn action can scuff soft ground and turf.
- Compact track loaders
- Tracks spread the weight, so the machine floats on soft, wet, or sloped ground where a wheeled unit would dig itself in. Usually the right call on dirt and the wrong call on a finished driveway.
- Capacity classes
- Rated operating capacity is what actually matters when you are lifting. Small frames suit landscaping and tight access; large frames handle pallet and production work.

Skid Steers rental questions
- Wheels or tracks — which should I rent?
- Ground conditions decide it. Wet, soft, or sloped ground calls for tracks. Hard surfaces and finished pavement favour wheels, which are also cheaper to run. If the site is mixed, tracks are usually the safer choice.
- Is a skid steer the same as a Bobcat?
- Bobcat is a manufacturer, not a machine type — the name stuck the way Kleenex did. We carry Bobcat among other brands, so if you ask for a Bobcat you will get a skid steer, and you may well get an actual Bobcat.
- Are attachments included in the rental?
- No. Attachments are rented separately from the loader. Tell us the job when you book and we will make sure the attachment and the machine actually match — not every attachment runs on every frame size.
